Caracal Lynx
The Caracal (Caracal caracal), also called Persian Lynx or African Lynx, is a fiercely territorial medium-sized cat. The Caracal takes its name the turkish word for black ears. The Caracal is one of the largest of four smaller species of cat. It stands 45cm (18 inches) at the shoulder and weighs about 18kg (40lbs). The Caracal has a rich tawny coat with distinctive black markings around the eyes and muzzle, tuffted ears and a short tail.They have been known to take sheep or goats from farms but are normally nocturnal and seldom seen.
